Error 1309 when installing Visual Studio 2013 Tools from CU8

Hi there.

I have added CU8 to the Updates map of the installation sources. When I run setup on my development client, I can now select Visual Studio 2013 Tools and start the installation. After some time this results in this error:

which will probably be caused by the length of the path of the installation files used. I have already tried to limit the length of the path by renaming folders where I could (I thinkthe length of the filename in the error is 246 now), but I still get the error.

Does somebody know a workaround for this?

Hi Onno,

Copy in D or C local drive,

then run as admin. Also try to un-install the VS 2010 Tool via AX 2012 R3, setup first before installing VS 2013 tools. Try and post your finding as well.

Hi

For sure is an issue related the path length.

So, if the file exist, reduce the length of the installation path.

Thanks guys. I solved it.

I had already copied it to my C drive (with long path names). During this copy action the Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Configuration.dll file (with a 256+long path+filename) got renamed to MICROSO~.DLL (which I didn't notice). I first shortened the path, and then renamed the file back to what is was originally: Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Configuration.dll. After that, installation ran smoothly.

Strange, this need for super long file and pathnames for temporary installation files, but we can survive.

First step:

1. Go to your AX INSTALLER inside the folder, at the right top corner search: "Configuration.dll"

It will be trying to find all missing dll on your path.

2. When you found Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Design.Configuration.dll

3. Get a copy CTRL+C and Paste CTRL+V to your DESKTOP, Then Restart your computer.

4. Now, Back to your desktop and CTRL+C and then Go to

D:\MYFOLDER AX INSTALLER\Updates\R3 CU8 (KB2998197)\msi\vstools64\users\microsoft\dynamicsconfiguration\microsoft.dynamics.framework.design.model.reports.reportsmodeldefinition

5. Run AX Setup again. :) Hope it helps a lot
