Urgent Help Required: App Deployment Blocked Due to App ID Conflict with AppSource

Hi Experts,

I’m currently facing a deployment issue due to an oversight, and I would really appreciate your guidance.

We have an extension (App ID: d3f4096a-d721-46b3-b*********) that was published as a Per-Tenant Extension (PTE) and is actively being used in production environments for multiple customers. Unfortunately, the same App ID was later reused by our product team to submit an AppSource offer under the name ‘XYZ App’, published by ‘XYZ Info Solutions’.

Now, we are unable to update the PTE version of the app for our customers in their production environments. The following error is being returned during deployment:

Deploy Operation rejected.

Error: An extension with the same App ID 'd3f4096a-d721-46b3-b*********' already exists in the AppSource marketplace with name 'XYZ App' and publisher 'XYZ Info Solutions'. Please use the extension marketplace to install the extension from AppSource or use a new App ID for your per-tenant extension.

Troubleshooting Done So Far:

  • Attempted to stop distribution from Partner Center — did not resolve the issue.

  • Tried changing the App ID and re-publishing to AppSource — but the system still seems to reference the old App ID during validation.

This app holds critical data for our customers, so simply changing the PTE App ID isn’t a viable option.

Is there any way to resolve this and continue updating our customers' apps without losing data or having to switch the App ID?

Best regards,
Tech-Lucky

I'm not a developer, so i might be wrong, but I would say there is no fast/easy way to resolve it.
Remove the other app from AppSource and put this one. Or change the AppId of this app, and need re-add them to all your customers.
using the same AppId is quite a massive mistake done on your side.

On AppSource I guess the original app is not published, that is why there was no errors when the new app was published?

Short Answer: No, not without direct intervention from Microsoft. This is beyond standard partner/ISV capabilities

Do not attempt to push a new App ID as a PTE without explicit guidance from Microsoft on data migration.

Your immediate action must be to contact Microsoft Support with all the details.

We also encountered this problem in the early days.
The solution is also very simple. Update your AppSource app, increase the version, and wait for Microsoft to review it before you can install it. In other words, AppSource app versions higher than PTE can be installed

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

I had already tried changing the AppSource App ID, as the original app was listed as "Contact Me" and is not being used by anyone. However, despite this, uploading the PTE still results in the same error related to the App ID that was previously associated with the AppSource submission.
