Starting customer journey > which contact will be selected when deduplication is in place?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

By default, the "Bypass email deduplication" setting is set to "no", which means that customer journeys will only sent 1 email to unique emailaddress in the pipeline. So when there are multiple contacts with the same emailaddress (like info@) only 1 email will be sent.

My question for now; which contact will be selected? I would like to understand because the personalisation in your mail (like first name, last name etc.) will be filled in from one of the multiple records.

I did some tests to figure this one out, but it looks like the contact is selected random. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Nick

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for reaching out!!

As per my understanding its a random pick. You can find related documentation here
