Hi Team,
I have 1 custom button on lead form.
I copied that button from Ribbon and paste on "Homepage grid" section of Ribbon because i require same functionality.
After that i tried to publish it but its giving error like "Duplicate Button Id Detected and removed".
After that i delete that button from "Homepage grid" section then also at the time of publish getting error like "Duplicate Button Id Detected and removed".

Thanks Scott.
It seems MS has resolved this issue.
I am able to remove the button and now not getting error.
Hi Jeroen, well, I don't know what service update was, what I know is that when I submitted a ticked to Microsoft on 2/26 I checked my D365 version and it was 1710 (9.1.0.2057) Online then on 2/22 they said:
"I’m happy to let you know that the product team has reverted to my mail that issue has been fixed. Kindly check the same and let me know if whether the issue persists.
At this point, I strong recommend you to kindly clear the cache memory and perform the same."
Then I checked this current week (last Monday) and it worked for me the way I described above. Now, that you wonder what service update could've been, I just checked my version of D365 and I see 1710 (9.1.0.2251) online, but I can't tell what it was, to be honest I don't know how MS handle this quick fixes but in posts like this one:
https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/310529/
They mention even more recent versions and it's not working yet either.
If you check this post: https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/310590
They talk about a workaround but also mention that "We ,on D365 side, have a fix in place for this issue. While the fix is getting deployed worldwide, use the above mitigation to remove the ribbon button/flyout from UI".
I don't know how what it seems to be a quick fix is reflected in the D365 version.
Regards,
Henry
Hi HenryZ,
We are experiencing the same issue with the Ribbon Work Bench.
When you mention the MS Fix, do you refer to a specific Service Update which was installed in your tenant?
I was checking Service Update 22 and 24 but I was unable to find any relationship to Ribbon Work Bench
22: support.microsoft.com/.../service-update-22-for-microsoft-dynamics-365-9-1-0
24: support.microsoft.com/.../service-update-24-for-microsoft-dynamics-365-9-1-0
Does anyone else know if this is fixed in a specific Service Update?
Hi, I had the same problem but after the MS fix, I was able to remove the duplicate.
Yes, I wasn't able to do it using the WR but exporting the solution and manipulating the ribbon xml, however it didn't worked the first time when I removed everything from the Ribbon element: <RibbonDiffXml />.
So I tried the same but just removing the duplicated element in ribbon xml. When I did that all the custom buttons that I had in that solution were removed, I was expecting to have removed only the duplicate button but it caused to remove them all, I don't know why. Anyway that helped and worked for me because that's what I tried to do in my first attempt.
Thanks DFA, i tried the same but it didnt work.
I had the same issue, which was solved by exporting the solution, removing the duplicates, and reimporting it.
It didn’t work to begin with, however, it seems that the fix has been deployed, as it works now.

Here is a Microsoft post describing the issue and a work around - community.dynamics.com/.../310590
Microsoft are aware of the issue and they have a fix that will be rolling out ASAP. Will keep you all posted.
Hi Scott, I tried editing the ribbon xml but it didn't help, once you publish the solution with the xml edited fixing the buttons or even removing them all, you see that nothing happens you still have the duplicity, nothing changes.
I submitted a ticket to Microsoft and they say they are investigating.
Here there's two issues, duplicity of the ID of custom buttons being created in the RW by drag and drop or just copy and paste (like other person reported) and the fact that once you publish a solution with a new custom button added you cannot delete it. Maybe they are related or at least they have the same root cause.
