GPS Coordinates and Bing Maps

Posted on by 30

Hello All,

I am updating my accounts with their respective GPS coordinates. I have also activated "Bing Maps" in our accounts page.

I have added the fields "address1_latitude" and "address1_longtitude" to my account form. But, Bing maps does not appear to take the coordinates into account. The map continues to show an image of the entire planet. And, if I click on the Map, it just shows me the "USA".

How do I make Bing maps inside CRM take the account GPS coordinates into account and show the location on the map in the account page?

Thank You,

Matt M.-------

Thank you Nadeeja, this is very helpful. I am surprised this feature does not come with Dynamics "out-of-the-box". I will see if I can get it working.

    Thanks!

    Hi Dualsweat,

Further to Andrii's comment, you could also use an external service such as Bing Maps REST Services to Find a Location by Point.  You pass the lat/long details you have already captured and get the address from the external service.  Then populate the CRM address field.  Now that you have the address populated, Bing Maps should show the correct location.

    Hello,

OOB functionality doesn't use coordinates for geolocation. It uses address in text representation and you can't make it work with longitude/latitude. If you want to make it work with coordinates itself you will have to write own html/js webresource.
