Auto-populate due date to today

Posted on by 235

Is it possible to have the due date automatically populate to "today" when creating a task or phone call?  If so, as a newbie, how would I do this?

Thanks, Cori

Thanks Guido for getting this to at least work on the quick create form.

    Thanks again, Cori

    Guido,

I got the alerts to work but not the population of the due date field.  I've removed the alerts as we don't need those.   Is there something else I can try?

    Thanks, Cori

    Hi Guido,

I did both the Hello World and updated your function to include alerts. I get all three alerts work when I open an existing task but nothing on creation of a task, no alert and no due date.

Thoughts?  I have Dynamics CRM 2013 if that makes a difference.

    Thanks, Cori

Something didn't work.  Not sure if there is a difference between 2011 and 2013 but maybe you can spot my error...

    • Opened the Task main form and clicked on Form Properties
    • Under Form Libraries, I clicked Add then clicked New
    • Entered the Name and Display Name as DueDateAutoPopulate
    • Entered the Type as Script (JScript)
    • Clicked on the Text Editor, copy/pasted your script above, and clicked Ok.
    • Clicked Save then Publish.  Closed that box then clicked Add.
    • Back on the Form Properties, under Event Handlers I clicked Add.
    • I put the Function as setToday and made sure Enabled was checked (Library defaulted to DueDateAutoPopulate).
    • Clicked Ok, Ok, Save and Publish.
    • Published All Customizations to be safe.

I then went to an account and created a task but the Due Date didn't auto-populate. Should I have used a different function under Event Handler area?

    Thanks, Cori
