Hi,

We have recently provisioned a new UDE environment and I am trying to finish the setup in my local with temporary admin rights(through admin by request app). The assets are downloaded successfully and I can see Application explorer with all the metadata and Dynamics 365 extension in the menu.

But every time I try to open the D365 extension, I get the below two error messages and when it finally opens, I cant find 'Configure Metadata' option to update my XPP config.

I have checked Microsoft FAQs and found the below -

Tried checking for this installed version json file, cant find it either. Tried few more options like restarting my system, followed exact same steps for configuring in a VM with full admin rights etc.. still keep getting the same issue.

I am out of options here. Any help is much appreciated!!

That JSON file has no more than version number as shown below

and that number matches with the platform version of the app

you may try to create the file manually (InstalledVersion.JSON)

I am not providing any warranties that this will work because, for me, I have never had to do it manually. I use my local system with full admin rights, and there has never been a problem downloading the new version of the code (which creates this JSON file automatically)

Thanks Sohaib...

Adding the file manually fixed the issue.

I am not sure why it was not created in the first place, I have raised it with MS.

Hi all,

Updating my previous conversation after adding InstalledVersion.json manually -

Issue with configure metadata is resolved but now I dont see buildtargets in MSBuild folder which will not allow me to create or build a project in VS.

All these components should be installed automatically when assets are downloaded. Any idea why they are not and how to fix it?
