Pallet related Query

Hello Expert,

I have query regarding pallet. In one of our customer we are facing issue related to pallet.

Its FMCG sector company. All the items are batch tracked.

Example:- We have picked 800 items. system has used same batch number and same location but it has picked from different pallet. Example Pallet A has 1000 physical quantity and B has 1000 . System has picked 500 from Pallet A and 200 from Pallet B. ideally it supposed to pick all the quantity from A as it has enough physical stock.

Please advise on this case. If you can guide me on the stock picking methodology will be appreciated.

Thanks

Tej

    Hi Tej,

I'm gonna guess you're not using functionality in the Warehouse management module (R3) to pick these orders. Is that right?

So are you posting Picking lists and doing Picking list registration? Are you using 'Shipments' in the Stock module? Do you know at what time AX is making a reservation against the stock?

If I am not wrong, I think it might be because of expiry date and the location directive might be configured as FEFO.

We are using AX 2012 R2. We are facing this issue while creating the picking list registration for Sales order. System is considering the same batch number and location, but the pallet are different. it is taking partial qty from one and the reaming from the next pallet. We have FEFO picking method.

    Thanks

Presumably, some other sales order has reserved part of the quantity of the first pallet. Then a later sales order is reserving the remaining quantity on that pallet, and a quantity on some other pallet(s). Does that sound likely?

If yes, I can't think of an easy way round it. It's a problem with the way that AX does 'Reserve at every level'; that is only solved in R3.

If you went with WMSII and Consolidated Picking and Shipments, you have a bit more functionality to play with, which might eliminate this problem. But that is quite an effort if you don't need it for any other reason.
