I have a sales order, shipper, and invoice which never shows up on any Sales journal.
On the Shipper windows 'Other Information' we see the invoice number, date, and period to post, but no sales journal number. The 'Next Step' is report as Release for Update.
Running the sales journal returns a blank report, and the shipper remains open. I have no IN batches suspended or otherwise unreleased.

Thanks for the help, Mark. I seems that the trouble originated (best I can tell) because the related work order was placed on Hold.
After putting the WO back to 'release', the steps you outlined helped to push the shipper back through the system.
Make sure Process Manager is running....
The Release for Update step indicates the Shipper is unable to move forward to the final Print Invoice step. Check the Shipper Update Log Viewer to see if the Shipper is there, and the reason stated for the Shipper not being able to be updated (I have seen situations where the Shipper is on Admin Hold and cannot be updated).
If that doesn't work:
1. Open the Shipper and click the Finish button; sometimes this will "nudge" the Shipper forward.
2. You can execute the following query, and paste the results into a new query, which will re-queue the Shipper for update.
