So it was the other way around? The user existed in GP but not in SQL? Normally I try not to have spaces in user IDs. Not that this was the problem here. So somehowm this user was in the Dynamics User Table but not in SQL. Is it possible that someone went into SQL and deleted this user for some reason? All security needs to done inside GP for GP.

Thanks for your reply, the corresponding user does not have a sql login. But the user is present in the GP company database and the dynamics database. Before i delete the user i noted what are all task and roll assigned for the particular user. After that i delete the user. Now i can create the same user without any issue.

You would not be able to enter a user ID on this screen if you were not logged in as 'sa'. As I said earlier, it appears your databases were copied from another server and this user ID is inside SQL but not in GP. The other possibility is that you have a user with the same windows credentials username as GP username. Please go into SSMS and the security for SQL and also each database and check the user list. I am sure you are going to find a duplicate. They need to be removed before you can add them with GP.

Are you logged in as SA when creating the account? It's possible you may not have adequate rights in SQL *and* GP to create the account.

This database was probably copied from another server. You need to have someone go into SSMS and clear the user account you are trying to add from both SQL and the company databases to which you want to add it.
