Hi guys,
I'm struggling to get the reservation system on our instance of Business central to work. I've got a customer and an item both set to reserve = optional. I create a sales order and line for that customer and item using a web service. I update the reserve field to always. This works no problem but the reserved quantity stays blank, it only updates when I manually change the reserve status. Which obviously is no good to us as we do a lot of orders.
I've tried updating the reserved quantity field but that is not editable. Has anyone been able to insert a sales order and activate the reservation system using web services?
Cheers,
Gareth
Hi Inge,
Thanks for your response. I have looked into that previously. Setting both the customer reserve status and item reserve status to "Always" , I can successfully insert a sales order and the reserve status on the sales line automatically populates to "Always". However, the reserved quantity is still not populated. This only kicks in when you come to change the reserve status manually. Hence, why I thought I'd try patching that field, which also works but the reservation is never created unless one manually alters the sales line. Its very strange behaviour.
Cheers,
Gareth
If you want to create reservations when you insert sales orders using API i think the best way is if the items you sell are configured for automatic reservations. The other option is manual reservation and it is hard to do meaningful manual reservation through an API.
So please look into the option of automatic reservations.
