Module Registration

I have installed Dynamics SL 2011 and am trying to get the modules registered.  Where does the "Unlocking key" come from?  I have tried to use the License Key for each module and it states that it is not valid.

In addition, the first module in my license matrix, A1, is not a recognzed module.  Can anyone please explain this error.

Thanks,

Todd

    Hi Todd,

The ID you should be using is the numerical ID that you find right below where it says Product Type: (61) Advanced Management on the registration key page.  It is not your MSPP id.  The Company Name is the License Holder on the registration key page.  Are you on the page in VOICE that has Request License Keys at the top of the page?

    Re: Module Registration

    Carolyn,

I followed the steps you suggested above, but to no avail.

I am not available to list our Address as it is shown on the Customer Info page on VOICE in the Customer tab.  The address is too long.

In addition, I am a little unsure as to what our Customer ID is.  I have been using our MSPP ID.  Is that the correct ID to use?

Would it possible that either of the two things above could be my issue...

    Thanks again for your assistance.

    Todd

    Hi Todd,

Have you entered the Customer ID and Company Name on the Customer tab exactly as they appear on the registration page in VOICE?  You could copy and paste them in to make sure they are correctly entered.  Then Save.

If you have tried that and if you have access to SQL Server Management Studio, try deleting out all the current registration info.

    Delete from registration

    Delete from registdetail

Then try again with the Customer tab first.  Then Save.  Then paste in the keys. Let me know how it goes.

    Re: Module Registration

I deleted all of the modules from Registration, saved, and tried to re-add.  On the very first one (A1-Advanced Management), I enetered the Item=A1, Serial Number=MBS116873929, and License Key=VRZTNFGMKBJSXHW.  Upon pasting the License Key from Excel, I get the popup stating "Invalid unlocking key" and the value being pasted does not show in the Unlocking Key field.  When I manually key the value, I see it but get the same error when click Save.  The information I am providing in the Module form was obtained from the table listed on our Request License Key page of VOICE.

I appreciate your help and hope to get this resolved soon.  It has been very frustrating.

    Hi Todd,

Which module keys are causing the error?  Maybe save the A1 key and then try the others.  Did you paste them into Excel and then from Excel into the Registration screen in SL?

    Re: Module Registration

I went through with the uninstall/reinstall.  My current product code now shows "61".  Also, I was able to add the A1 module (Advanced Management), however I am still getting the "Invalid unlocking key" error when using the License Key listed for any of the modules.  I have tried to copy/paste from Excel, the website, and even manually typing.  Is it far-fetched to think that there is an issue with our Registration Keys?

  • Re: Module Registration

    Hi Todd,

Since you have installed 48 which is multi-user standard and need to move up to 61, you might still consider uninstalling and reinstalling. We can't be sure that modifying the solinst.cfg file will work in this instance.  You might encounter problems down the road.

Actually, you maybe able to short cut this and edit the SolInst.cfg file found in the root of the SL\Application folder.  You can open the file in Notepad, find the line that says 48 and change it to 61.  this worked in previous versions - can't confirm that it works for 2011 but is worth a try.

    Hi Todd,

You are correct.  Your best bet would be to uninstall and reinstall.  Make sure that you choose product 61 when you reinstall.

Before copying the keys into the Registration screen, copy them from VOICE into Excel and then into the Modules tab.
