GP2015 R2 Web Client upgrade issues

Has anyone installed GP2015 R2 with the WebClient??

We recently upgraded our DEV environment to 2015 R2 from 2013 R2 and had very little issues. We had the WebClient working on 2013 and that install was pretty straightforward, I even swapped out the Cert for a newly acquired wildcard cert before the upgrade and the WebClient continued to work after the cert change.

After I upgraded the WebClient to 2015 R2 it quit working, I even uninstalled it completely and reinstalled it thinking that there was some remnants of 2013 that was messing it up but still no success. I'm just not completely sure what I'm missing. I've attached a screenshot of the what the browser shows when I try to access it.

RE: GP2015 R2 Web Client upgrade issues

Has anybody been able to successfully install and setup the webclient for 2015 R2? It appears the install document is for 2013 R2, not sure if anyone else has noticed that.

My guess is it has something to do with SBA because there are a bunch of new services that get installed on the server than in 2013 R2.

Anyone else out there having issues???

    Tom,

You are not alone. Here is a link to a prior post about the same error after a change in the certificate...

Yup , I saw that one, tried it and still a no go.

Here's what's strange, it only seems to be for 2015 where the issue occurs because I was able to change out the cert in 2013 run the repair and re-associate the cert to the site and along with the services and it worked like a charm.

    Tom,

I've installed(Not an upgrade) 2015 R2 WebClient without any issues. I chose to install both WebClient and SBA, but I dont think that really matters. Have u tried restarting all the webclient related services and also did IISRESET? Have you looked at the Event viewer log under "Dexterity"?

    Thanks,

Good to hear that someone has been able to get it up and running. As for the webclient services, I've restarted all of them and done an IIRESET, still nothing. I checked the Dexterity Event Viewer and it's completely empty. That seems a little odd. Anyways I'm going to rip out the WebClient and all WebComponents and start from scratch.

One thing, what type of Cert are you using? Self-signed, named or a wildcard? We're using a wildcard.

Pls try this first before reinstall...

Go to IIS >> Default website(or whatever u created) >> GP >> SSL Settings and unmark "require SSL " and click apply and do IISRESET. Now see if it shows GP web login screen with just http URL instead of https. If so, then we can confirm it's an issue with the certificate.

Ours is wildcard certificate. I initially tried with Self signed and it worked as well, but then I had  to change all the webclient services' account to some generic account and also had to add the domain groups, so I uninstalled and reinstalled and this time chose to install wildcard certificate and it worked as well. Just pls make sure you restart the services as required.

Are you looking at the logs in Event Viewer | Applications and Services Log | Dynamics ?

If there is nothing, please look at the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft Dynamics as well.

RE: GP2015 R2 Web Client upgrade issues

Ok so I got it working, I ripped out the entire WebClient, reinstalled it and got the same issue. So I ripped it out again, created a new Site in IIS called GPWeb instead of using the DEFAULT site and installed it there and also updated some mappings in SQL for DynGPSec and for GPCONFIGURATION and made sure that the Service Account user had the proper roles assigned for both db's.

To be honest I tried so many different configurations I forgot exactly all I did to get it working. Looks like I'm going to rip it out again and get a more solid process written up.

Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone. This one was defiantly trickier than previous WebClient installs.
