HR license in D365FO

Posted on by 302

We have a custom security role in D365FO, and the system indicates that users with this role require a /HR/ license.

However, in our Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) we don't have any HR licenses.

Do we need to order HR licenses, when using the HR module in D365FO?

    HI @Gaute K

If you are using any security role which require HR licence, you need to buy this as soon as possible.

I am not sure what level of security role you are using, but if possible to audit please try to identify the component that require HR licence and remove it if that does not affect the usability of function.

    Thanks,

Customers that have purchased Dynamics 365 Human Resources will not require license changes. The additional sandbox stock-keeping unit (SKU) that was specific for Human Resources will no longer be applicable. Instead, customers can choose to buy a Finance and Operations apps Tier 2 sandbox at a lower cost. Existing customers who have purchased a Human Resources sandbox will be migrated to a Finance and Operations apps Tier 2 sandbox at no additional cost. We will continue to require five minimum users for Dynamics 365 Human Resources.

Customers using the HR module will be required to purchase licenses for Dynamics 365 Human Resources starting in February 2025. These customers will get the new functionality as part of their current contract until February 2025 or until the current licensing agreement expires, whichever is earlier. Customers can also choose to move to Dynamics 365 Human Resources licenses earlier if it helps them achieve better cost savings.

    Hi,
The first thing to make clear is that using the HR module requires purchasing a license.
What the blog means is that due to feature merging, if you have already purchased a license for Dynamics 365 Human Resources to use the HR module, you will not need to purchase it again until 2025. After 2025, it will no longer be considered whether you have purchased a license for Dynamics 365 Human Resources before, and regardless of whether the functions are merged or not, the purchase is required.

Maybe this explanation will make it clearer to you.
    Best Regards,
    Hana

Your comments are conflicting, so this did not make me any wiser.

I see that Microsoft write that customers using the HR module need to purchase license from February 2025.

I interpret this as we don't need to buy any HR licenses before 2025?

    Hi,
This blog introduces the details of D365 Human Resources and HR module integration, which mentions that customers who have purchased Dynamics 365 Human Resources do not need to purchase or change licenses. Additional HR-specific sandbox stock keeping units (SKUs) will no longer apply. Starting in February 2025, customers using the HR module will need to purchase a Dynamics 365 Human Resources license. These customers will receive the new features as part of their current contracts until February 2025 or the expiration of their current license agreement, whichever is earlier.
In other words, in any case, using the HR module of D365 FO requires ordering a license.

    Hi Gaute,

The Human Resource application was brought back into the Dynamics 365 F&O platform. If you are using the HR features, users should be licensed with the Dynamics 365 HR license SKU.
