Management Reporter Viewer error: you don't have permission to perform this operation

Posted on by 220

Hi all,

I’m working with security in Management Reporter Viewer. I give a group access to one of the folders in the MR Library (i.e. Group XYZ to Folder MGT). I don’t want this group to see anything else in the Viewer. So, I removed their access from the root “Library” because all other folders inherits access once you give access to the root Library. Now, when a user from this group logs on to MR viewer, they receive the error message “you don't have permission to perform this operation” multiple times. They eventually get to the report fine after this annoying message. The only way to get around it is by giving this group access to the root library which defeats the purpose of the “security”. Any thoughts?

    Hi Jill,

How to give access and from where.

I mean to give Group access to the Library folder.

    regards

I ran into the same issue.  I resolved by adding everyone group view only to the public folder.  I setup all of the individual group's folder under library, set permission so only each group could view and create.  I also removed any reports that had been generated under the library folder.

By default, only administrators are automatically given access to the Library (root) folder of the report library. But, all users are given access by default to to the Public folder.

In order for a user or group to have access to the Library folder, they would need to be granted access. Did you give the group access to the Library folder first, then to the a different folder?

Also, are you using Management Reporter 2012? I've tested a couple of different ways to add groups to folders in the report library, but haven't been able to reproduce the issue you are seeing.

    Jill
