Email Template Formatting

Posted on by 685

I am losing the will to live with Dynamics email formatting!

I have a client who is on 2016 on premise. We are setting up some case notification emails for when cases get created, resolved, status updates etc. However, no matter what I do I cannot get the emails to look professional. They have double spaces and if I try to do ctrl+shift to apply only one space, it looks fine then when I save and close and reopen it places everything on one line. It is a nightmare!

I have read people recommend Outlook but these are emails that must be sent from a workflow so cannot use outlook and need to design them in CRM. How do people get around this to ensure the formatting is correct?

In case anyone else is having trouble with this, as Shidin mentioned I found that I needed a mix of browsers to resolve this. What a faf!:

    - Create in Word Document

    - Copy and paste into Edge

    - Add the data links and redo spacing formatting using chrome.

I've seen others commenting on the email formatting not needing to be updated in CRM by MS as they focus on the outlook plugin but for this kind of thing I can't believe its not on the roadmap at all. This has taken days for something that should take minutes.

    Thanks Shidin.

We also have Click Dimensions but not found a way yet of piping case data into a Click email. Did you find a way of doing that?

Would you mind elaborating on how Dynamics 365 v9.0 has made things easier?

Thanks for the tip re Firefox, I shall try that too!

    Been there! Quite frustrating.

What we did in the end was use mail template software such as ClickDimensions / MailChimp.

Dynamics 365 v9.0 has made things relatively easier.

Microsoft approach is to develop in MSWord and then copy paste. But this causes extra work when putting in dynamic data.

PS: I have found that using a different web-browser at times helped. I always used to use FireFox for my email designing.

    All the best!
