CRM 365 on premise .NET Framework compatibility

Hi,

as a developer I know that plugins and workflows works only with version 4.5.2 of .NET Framework.

On the page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3124955/compatibility-with-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2016
I found that CRM 2016/365 is compatible with version 4.6 - does that mean that on server which has .NET 4.6 I can safely install CRM 365 and it will work like breeze?

What about .NET Framework 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1 ?

Do you have any experiences?

Best regards

Adam

Presumably it will, but I did not try:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../supported-extensions

That page is describing a different scenario, but it's likely the same applies to Dynamics itself

    Hi,

I found something about .net 4.7

    https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/244268

So right now I am confused - it would be good if someone from Dynamics team would confirm this.

    Best regards

    Adam

    Adam,

That thread is not resolved and would probably not give you the answer you are looking for.

I would probably keep using the version that I know are supported until there is a confirmation of other options from Microsoft.

    Hi,

and this is what I was afraid of. It is very hard to obtain any tips from Microsoft regarding plans for supporting newer .net version,

about availability of new crm developer tools.

    Anyway thanks for answer

    Aric,

and this is problem because documentation from Microsoft is not consistent in that point.

    support.microsoft.com/.../compatibility-with-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2016

    on the bottom there is

    Windows Server 2016 Dynamics 365 8.2.0.0749 Compatible

    and based on

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../mailbag-what-version-of-the-net-framework-is-included-in-what-version-of-the-os

preinstalled .NET Framework on win 2016 is in version 4.6.2

but on top on first link there is no information about it

I reported inconsistency of that doc to Microsoft - let's see.
