PA combined history macro

Hi,

I am trying yo create a macro that would execute the PA combined history at night (with SQL scheduler).  I cannot find a way of making the marco works (it is stopping at the user ID - I have applied the suggestion of Microsoft - remove the user that is already there and enter it back after) but it is still not working (no error message).  If anyone already have the macro setup and that it iw working, I would apreciate if you could give me details on how to make it work?

Thanks!

    RE: PA combined history macro

    Hi Dawn,

I did figured this out... :-)

I created a macro that is starting a GP session and running the PA combined utilities macro (I used a GP user created just for that).

After I created a .bat file containing:

    "F:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2010\Dynamics.exe" "F:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2010\DYNAMICS.set" "F:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2010\PA combined 20130517.mac"

After, a colleague of mine created a windows task to execute the .bat file every night.  The only thing is that the customer is leaving his computer session open at the end of the day and the macro does not close GP after the PA combined history so the customer is closing it in the morning.

I hope that it is helping you.

    Thanks

I never did try to figure it out - the suggestion was for you to try <smile>.

Mostly I try to talk people out of using PA and into using something simpler and easier to use like Olympic Project Cost.  :-).

I am a GP consultant so if you would like some assistance with this I'm sure we could work out some terms and get you where you want to be.

Josee I would love to know if you figured this out...I'm working towards the same goal!

I've not done this but a suggestion would be to look at the stored procedures that do this under a user-command and replicate them in a SQL job.  Then schedule the job to run each night.
