Task Reminder Email Sent at a specific time everyday

Hi

I was wondering if it's possible to setup a workflow that sends a email notification of open tasks each day to a specific person via the CRM. This will be designed to be annoying and triggered each day  at a specific time. What would be the workflow process and what is the trigger logic I'll need to apply (e.g. after record is created, when a specific field changes etc)?

    Hi Mike,

I would recommend a configurable view which will tell upcoming task or any other activities for Today. The filter criteria will be based on Due Date and Time in say next 15 mins and automatically removes record from view after current time.

This will have no impact on performance of system and no waiting workflow.

Though, it won't have any alert or notification but you can set this view in user's dashboard which will be looked by user on daily basis and to be worked on that.

    Hi MikeC282,

I utilized the following post (and the related link) to do this in the past and it worked great.

If it's supposed to happen at a specific time of day, then having triggers based around record or field changes don't work, since if changes don't happen the workflow won't fire.

I've seen a lot of suggestions elsewhere that involve creating a workflow that fires on the creation of a task, in this example, timing out for a day and then sending the email if the task is still open.  But this doesn't give you great control over the timing, and needs to be running in the background for each record, etc...

From what I can tell, there are two good ways to actually schedule things properly at the moment, but both require CRM On-prem instead of Online.  One, you can schedule an SSRS report to email out from the reporting server.  Two, you can create a console app and schedule it using Task Scheduler on your CRM server.

I'd love to see something along the line of Task Scheduler within CRM itself for Actions - that's the ideal scenario, in my mind.
