Export or other access to old Dynamics GP 9.0 system

We have an old Dynamics GP system from a company that we purchased.  It is Dynamics GP 9.0 on Windows Server 2008 32 bit/SQL 2008 R2.  We use a different system for our primary accounting system.  Accounting needs access to this system maybe once a year.  We need to get this off of Win/SQL 2008 but we don't have maintenance, and aren't interested in doing upgrades since it is used so rarely.  Are there any companies/products that export the data into PDFs or Excel or something similar to be accessed without having to have GP installed?

The data is sitting in an MS SQL database. You can use anyone of the current ETL tools to extract the data. You will need to have a knowledge of the underlying databases. Let us know what data you need and we can point you to the proper tables.

    Hello Jason,

    Richard, as usual, is correct.

There are other options like SSRS, Refreshable Excel Reports, or simple SQL Views.

It basically comes down to what kind of data you need to get every year, and how much data it is.

My usual recommendation for gathering data is to use Excel Reports to pull in SQL view data. This is usually the best way for most users to get data.

I actually am in the middle of writing an article to go more in depth on this, but in the meantime there is a good article outlining how to connect to SQL database in Azure. The steps are mostly similar when connecting to a normal SQL Server.

Keep an eye on the Support and Services blog if you want to see what I release sometime this month:
