I have a nice machine at home, Icore exteme, 12gig memory and a intel SSG 64gig SLC drive. I wanted to test out my store's RMS .. I installed SBS 2008 and windows 7 to compare speeds. Here is what i did and what i found so far. Please let me know if u guys find any wierdness about FP1.
1) Fresh OS install
2) Install RMS ..
3) Windows 7 , install msql sp3
4) REstore backup;. (all seems to work fine).
5) Install RMS SP2
6) update DB from administator
7) Install Feature pack1
Test a few things. Goto Purchase order. OMG SLOW .. what is going on, i watch my rescource monitor when i click on items. I appears as if the new windows. With order status, KPI data etc.. when its set on ... "Ordering Guidance" It slows things down painfully. Just clicking on a item lookup code is fainful. Change that window to something else and its fine. I am not sure if there is a SQL query that going on evertime i click a item code but it makes PO's painfully slow & sluggish.

Get SP4
Get 2.0.0155 from Partnersource if you are experiencing lag in RMS POS and HQ POs. This issue was noted by MS and released the fix in the RMS SP4 Refresh hotfix. Am testing it so cant give you any results. Also disbale Autoshrink in SQL and reindex your DB now and then to improve performance. Plus try increasing the tempdb as this can give you more headroom in your SQL Server performance
There is a SQL query bringing that data into the PO window; in fact we used your post, and a couple of others, as reference for our own testing before installing RMS-HQ-FP1 for a new client that needed the Landed Cost function.
But we did not have your issues, or the ones from others about not being able to open POs at multiple workstations; not in our test setup on an Upgrade to an existing install with an rp5700 as the SO Main and several old desktops around the office as workstations, and not in the client's which was a new decent Server with full SQL Std, and 8 POS Lanes on new PCs, and 10 Back Office stations on existing PCs, and a blazing industrial Wireless connection between the 2 sides of their store across a 300' parking lot.
So sorry, no more insight there.
Which flavor of SQL did you say you installed, and which W7, x32 or x64?

Not only is it slow but we are having issues with the "ordering guidance"
This would be an INCREDIBLY useful feature for us and we would put up with the lag that it creates but in our DB it doesn't even work as it should!
When creating a purchase order to ship to one stores using multiple stores reorder information the ordering guidance information is inconsistent. Sometimes it lists the information for both stores. sometimes for store1 and other times for store 2 only. Very frustrating to say the least.

You are not alone. We have the had the same performance degradation and we are using an optimised db on a dedicated SQLServer 2005 machine with plenty of ghz & ram.
But there is another problem w/ FP1 which should stop everybody in their tracks before they install it. Once installed, it will no longer allow you to open multiple POs on multiple machines. If you do, your instance of RMS will fail and abort, on all machines that had POs open. Wow! Why is MS even allowing this dead dog to continue to be insatlled or promoted?
I am now three to four weeks behind on processing POs because I can't have but one person at a time in the PO module. FP1 should have never been released!!!
Some of these calculations are really intense, and if SQL has not been optimized, this can certainly lead to problems.
We have developed our own Advanced Purchase Order tool that offers much more than what FP1 does now, and these were some of the growing pains we had to overcome to make it a realistic tool.
I am experiencing the same problem - extremely slow PO - with that new PO feature. Especially when I work PO remotely via VPN which is slower than local network, it is disastrous as one click takes a minute or two to response. I tried to go back to SP2 by uninstalling the whole RMS and reinstalling it but failed as SQL could not be downgraded. I hope MS provides a way to downgrade for those who need speed than the feature of FP.
