GP2010 Reporting Services Reports

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello!

I have deployed the Reporting Services Reports to a Native Report Server instance in Sql Server 2008 for GP 2010.  I have a couple of qustions as follows:

  • What are the advantages of using the SharePoint integrated mode vs. Native?
  • Do the reports need to be published before using them?  There is no data printing on the Trial Balance Summary or Detail, and I have checked the options multiple times.

thanks in advance!

    Markymark,

Here are a few things.  First, if you're familiar with SharePoint, you know it brings a lot of functionality that can be used within the context of your SRS deployment.  Versioning, workflows, etc. are all standard SharePoint functionality that can be used with your SRS reports when deployed in SharePoint mode.  SharePoint also scales better than native mode.

Regarding your second question, I'm not sure I follow...  You do need to deploy your reports to SharePoint to use them.  Please clarify if you're looking for something else.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Hi Jonathan

Thanks for the informative response.  Yes SharePoint is used, so that makes sense.  The only issue is that CRM doesn't support SharePoint Integrated mode for the Report Server, so I suppose I could create a new instance of the RS for the GP2010 Reports.

I am also not sure about the Trial balance displaying no data, but I did see a post about it - it was a fix that was deployed.

    thanks

    HI Mark,

The only difference between SharePoint and Native is where the reports are going to be accessed. Are you using SharePoint? If so then you probably want to deploy the reports to SharePoint. If not then you will want to use Native.

Yes reports need to be published before you use them otherwise you wont have any reports listed. I am not sure about the Trial Balance reports as I do not support the financials side.
