How to handle Purchase order, Repair Type

Posted on by 4,156

I was wondering if anyone knows or have tried or experienced, to use Purchase Order repair type to handle the scanrios when item is being sent back to Vendor or to a shop for repair not return or replacement.

We have been using a very cumbersome, long and hard way to handle these type TRX but have seen any solution to that yet.

    Hi Sagi88,

Thanks for your reply. I am using GP 10 SP4. Here are the other details

We do have RTV module and we did use it for  a while but it does not handle Lot Controlled items intelligently. So we stopped using it about 2 years ago and I am still fixing glitches adnd stuff hung up.

Inter site Transfer, let me look into it.

However, the process we use at the moment is kind of same as Inter site transfer. First we move the items to a specific designated location for the items,  needed to be sent back to Vendors for repair.

Then we issue a PO for a part which does not exist and then we receive it and then we move the QTY from the location where we move the part; back to our location.

    We also use multi BIN.

    Hi V.

Not sure what version of GP your are using (BE or AM)

You may want to look at the Inter site transfer instead which allows you to ship out product and receive back product and set up accruals with the landed cost feature if you are getting charged for the repairs.

You also have the RTV module with the AM version that allows for a repair type return which will also allow you to ship out merchandise and receive it.

    Hope this helps
