Actually i have a requirement from my client. Where they are using stock and  service items in their fixed price projects in AX 2012. While creating PO for a service Item requirement doesn't get credited and user doesn't have to post packing slip to consume the item against the project, whereas for Stock item requirement get created and user has to post packing slip to consume the item against the project.

Now they are implementing D365 and same process they want to follow.
Would please help here. Whether is it possible or not or if  possible then please suggest the configuration and process.
Thankyou

    Hi,

Use Procurement Categories for service items to avoid unnecessary requirements and packing slips.

-Go to Procurement and sourcing > Categories > Procurement categories.
-Create a procurement category for service items.
-Link it to ledger accounts for financial postings.
-When creating a Purchase Order (PO), select the procurement category with Item.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

    Raj

For Service Items, you do not want the system to generate inventory transactions or require packing slip posting. I think using Procurement categories will help.

    Thanks

Hello, Mr Raj Borad and Mr Ramesh Kumar. Thank you so much for your quick response.
As your suggestion pointed to the same configuration, I tested the process with the same configuration as Mr Raj has mentioned. Still Item Requirement is getting created for service items.

Would you please elaborate on this in detail? It will be helpful.
Here is one thing I found: if we are able to stop the item requirement from being created for the service item, then we achieve the requirement.

Please feel free to connect with me anytime.
