There is no shortcut for learning AX development properly.

You need to take your time to understand the business functionality first, how a company runs. Then during implementation projects and module developments you would be exposed to the typical problems which comes up for a company, and what development challenges do you face when meeting those requirements.

Once you are familiar with how the major modules work, what are the associated classes/tables/forms for those areas, then you could look into more advanced areas. This typically means integration projects, performance optimization, version control, build management, SQL tasks such as query plan optimization, etc. Development does not mean coding, you need to know the infrastructure and surrounding products as well.

You can only shorten the learning curve if you get your hands dirty and do implementation projects with experienced people. One of my juniors in the past have picked up the coding bits in 6 months time, and within a year became a mid-level developer. This is a 3-4 year procedure for your typical coders.

Going back to your question in the post, the correct way to find information is by using the search feature indeed. But before that, you should know the AX application itself better, since you can already find answers for majority of the problems and questions raised within MorphX and X++. You just need to be good enough to know where to look, and what to look for. Web search and development books/courses could assist you with that.

I agree with Vilmos, it would be easy for you to develop\customize when you know the application well. Happy DAXing!! :)
