Campaign Responses / Marketing Lists

We have an area of the business that generates campaigns outside of Dynamics but also want to record their information in Dynamics as well *sigh* - we created the campaign and then manually recorded the campaign responses on who attended and event.

Once all the responses have been recorded I want to add all the people that responded to a marketing list but  I can't seem to find anyway to associate the responses activities to a marketing list in any way.

Is this at all possible?

Thanks

If I had to do this, I would first ensure that the correct campaign responses can be obtained with an Advanced Find query. Then, I would use the same query to add the Contacts to the Marketing List using the "Add using Advanced Find" option. Let me know if this is an option for you.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply, this is really my problem.  When doing an advanced find I can only find the records against Campaign Responses - there appears to be no way to back track against the contact entity which is what the marketing list would require to add them.

I have done every type of query to get the data in the marketing list selecting the campaign I want but it brings no data at all.

Is it normally when working with campaigns to start with a blank marketing list and want to add people to that based on the responses?

Ahh, that makes perfect sense, Robin. If your Campaign Responses are properly related to the Parent Campaign and your Contacts are listed in the "Customer" field, you might try this for your Advanced Find:

    Look for: Contacts

Click Select, and choose Status = Active (don't want Inactive Records).

Click Select, and scroll down to the Related section. Choose Activity Parties (Party).

Click Select, and choose Participation Type = Customer.

Click Select, and scroll down to the Related section again. Choose Activity (Campaign Response).

Click Select, and choose Parent Campaign = [Your Campaign Record].

I really hope the above works for you, but if it doesn't, I have another idea (it's not one I recommend using though, as it requires direct manipulation of the CRM Database tables which is never good practice).

Please let me know if this gets you the results you need. :)
