We will be replacing 2 computers with new ones. Is there a seamless way to install rms 2.0 and can we use windows 7 pro?

Posted on by 70

We are replacing 2 pos terminals with new cpu's.

The new computers can have windows7 pro or the existing version of xp pro sp3.

Which os is preferable?

We would like to do this as seamless as possible and fast as possible.

The new computers are duo-core , 4g of ram and 500g hard drives.

Are there any issues we need to be concerned with especially with regards to a new key which will be needed to activate the pos function?

    XP will not last long.

I think should go with Win 7

An update to this thread: We've successfully re-installed RMS 2.0 on several new PCs using Windows 7 Pro. Just remember to right-click and use the administrator function when installing. I have also had several smooth processes of transferring the license by MS phone activation.

I would suggest you use xp pro sp3. I just setup a few PC's with win 7. It's just a lot more hassle then XP.

The printers we are using are kinda old so it's hard to get drivers working, I finally did though.

I have tried hard to get our I6550's working on Win 7 but all in vain so far. If it turns out to be impossible we might go back to XP.

As far as activating, it works great. If you're switching PC's you'll have to select Activate by phone and call Microsoft's activation center to activate. When activating by internet the second time it says you have activated before, but when calling MS it works.
