Hi Mutinda,
Hi I was able to get this printer to work with windows driver. However now there is alignment issue. The data on the right edge is cut. I tried to change the print layout from preference and that didnt work. The only resolution is to redesign the receipts. However other stores are using the same receipt formats with thermal printer(OPOS) with no such issue. Any ideas?
we did run into this issue when upgrading form 7.3 to 8.0. The check SSRS reports were customized to get the alignment right during our initial implementation. When upgrading from 7.3 to 8.0, we had to do some work to convert our customization code to extension. I am not sure if the SSRS changes would have required any work in this area. In any case, we had tweak the reports to get them back in alignment.
When installing the printer drivers choose the custom installation option and add your printer model from the list.
On your hardware profile ensure to select windows as printer type and then set the name as it appears in control panel - if modern POS you're good to go.
If cloud POS, add a shared hardware station in your store and assign it your hardware profile, hostname as your computer name, assign a port number and select the package refence. Download your hardware station together with the config file and install. After successful installation of the hardware station 'of course there are some prerequisites which will be needed' login to POS in non drawer mode and select your hardware station and pair
Hi Mutinda,
Thanks. Do we need to do anything additional other than installing APD_456E? And in hardware profile anything else we need to do?
I had the problem with the OPOS drivers. With OPOS I could do the health check successfully but I couldn't get the printer to print from the POS
The windows drivers work easily though particularly the APD_456E
Yes thanks. I still was not able to configure the printer. There was an issue with OPOS ADK setup, I have raised a ticket
Hi Rutvik,
There is no specific requirement regarding the printer technology (i.e. thermal or dot matrix or different type) used, for Retail POS.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi Juergen,
My confusion is with the type of printer. Is dot matrix POS printer supported or we require thermal one?
Hi Rutvik,
Retail POS can connect to (receipt) printers in different ways. If you are going the OPOS route, try different versions of Epson OPOS ADK, for instance the latest one, and Ver.2.80E R14 as well. Alternatively, test with a Windows printer driver. Have a look into our documentation it is outlined in detail there.

If that does not help further please consider to raise a service request and we can look onto the environment together, if the cause is on Microsoft or on 3rd party end.
Kind regards,
Juergen
