Unable to drag new fields in Report Template

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am unable to drag the calculated field I have created in report writer for SOP Blank Invoice Form.

These are the steps i have done.

1. Modify the SOP Blank Invoice Form in report writer to add a calculated field.

2. Assign the modified report to my user login.

3. Print the report in screen and save the xml file.  Note: I was able to see my calculated field in the report printed on the screen.

4. Go to Report Template, select the following:

Report Name: SOP Blank Invoice Form (Modified)

5. Click on New button and choose "From Existing".  Selected "SOP Blank Invoice Form Template" and enter a new template name as "SOP Blank Invoice Form Servio"

6. Click on Create button

7. Back in the Report Template Maintenance, i highlighted my Template Name "SOP Blank Invoice Form Servio" and click on Modify button

8. In word, i added my xml file and can see my calculated field in the Field List.

However, dragging the calculated field in the report doesn't seem to work.

Any steps that i missed?

Thank you all for your help

    Hi Leslie,

Thank you for your response.  I was able to resolve by deleting first the existing .xml data source before adding the new xml.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

I presume you are deleting the existing .xml data source and adding your new one. That said, what section are you trying to drag the field into? Are you replacing an existing field, or is this a new one. Are you putting the field into its own cell on the template? Are you importing the template into your customized templates and replacing the one you just created?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
