Security Roles - Edit reports

ReportReport
Posted on by

One of our users is trying to change the name of a report that he created but he doesn't have permission.   What permissions need to be granted to edit reports that you have created yourself?  He has user permissions on all "reports" already so he should be able to edit reports he has created.

Can you please post error message user is getting when trying to save report.

  • RE: Security Roles - Edit reports

The user has permissions on Reports.   The steps he is taking are as follows:

    • Open Dynamics (in Edge)
    • Go to Report
    • Select report “Weekly Activities”
    • Click Edit
    • (a new window opens)
    • Edit name
    • Click Save and Close
    • (error msg appears)

    What else can it be?

    Hi,

When you go to reports list or grid and when user selects report, will there is Edit option shown?

Also from customization, user can open report which is opened in edit mode.

If user has all permission.. how user is trying to edit report.. can you please provide screen shot or steps?

  • RE: Security Roles - Edit reports

    Hi all,

Thanks for trying to help.    He has all user permissions on Reports and can publish reports but he still can't edit the report he created.  He hasn't reassigned the report and is still the owner.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi partner,

Did he assign his report to others?

If he did this, the owner of his report would change and he wouldn't have the permissions to rename the report.

If he didn't do this, you could check his security role for permissions of Report entity.

He should have user level permissions for reading and writing.

    Hope it helps.

To rename report.. user need write permission on report entity..

Security role -->Core records --> Reports --> Give read and Write permission.

    save security role and try.

  • RE: Security Roles - Edit reports

I tried that but it didn't work for the user renaming the report.  The steps are:

    •OpenDynamics (in Edge)

    •Go toReport

•Selectreport “Weekly Activities” (a new window opens)

    •Editname

    •ClickSave and Close

    •Error appears

    Hi,

Try giving Publish Report access under Core Records >> miscellaneous.

    Hope this helps.
