BPF will qualify a Lead without all required fields in the BPF being present

The BPF we use for Leads to Opportunities will let the Lead qualify without all required fields in the BPF being present.  My understanding was that making a BPF step required prevented the Lead from being qualified; what is allowing the Lead to be qualified?

The BPF can't prevent the Qualify button being pressed. You would need to make the values mandatory on the form so as to prevent saving. You could do this conditionally using Business Rules.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    Scott:

Thanks for the reply, but I thought the BPFs were designed to prevent a user from going from one stage to the next without required information; in our case, we know the Leads will not usually have all the information needed for the Account, Contact and Opportunity, but the BPF would allow the creation of the Lead, and Sales would obtain the information to qualify...but the BPF would prevent "rogue" qualification of Leads without needed information.

Yes - that is the case normally - but the 'Qualify' button is a special case unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply.  I know we can prevent them from moving to that next stage (but can still qualify); is there any way I could write some JavaScript against the Qualify button in this case?  I'm thinking not, but I know you'll know.

PS.  I love Ribbon Manager...extremely helpful.

Yes you can do this - you'll need to customise the Command (not the button) in the ribbon workbench and add some enable rules with a Value rule for each mandatory field. See ribbonworkbench.uservoice.com/.../121427-enable-disable-a-ribbon-button-dynamically-based-o

Thanks, Scott.  I think this will indeed work for us.  I appreciate all the assistance.
