Installing GP On A Desktop (to access the GP server) - Quick Question

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are already running Dynamics GP 2010 in our network. A secretary currently accesses GP through an .exe file on her desktop (GP.exe). We are moving her to a new computer and trying to get GP installed (that front end user part) on the new computer. I've installed GP2010, but when I launch it, it says Utilities must launch first, ok that's fine. That pops up, but the "server" dropdown box isn't correct. How can I point that at our current GP server? That box should be saying Dynamics GP.

Great thanks. Setup ODBC and now just working on getting past the "You are using an earlier version of Dynamics.dic than the one that's currently installed on the network." I see we have a GP2010 R2 Upgrade folder on one of our network shares, but I'm not seeing any easier setup.exe or anything else to locally install the upgrade.

In the new workstation, make sure that the ODBC has been set up first to point to the server, because if not, it will not show up in the list. Basically, it has to be the same as what it was in the old (working) workstation.
