Maybe another option is creating an application ribbon button, then when clicked will display the version by calling webapi and retrieving the version number. This can be displayed on every form, view or dashboard in every entity.
As Mr.Ravi suggested you can retrieve using WebApi . What you can do is create a custom entity to store these information via WebApi upoon solutions deployed and use it in your dashboard chart.

If you wanted to be creative, you might use a web resource for theme logo. Then, if you figured out how to generate that logo automatically(or even manually) whenever you deploy a new solution (basically, you'd need to update that web resource to display solution version number as part of the logo), you'd have a nice version number in the top left corner of the screen..

You can retrieve the solution version number using web api and display it on an entity form load but there isn't any supported way to display a global notification on dashboard or sitemap.
