eConnect and New SQL Instance

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello:

Is it true that, when GP SQL databases are moved to a new SQL instance, eConnect has to be uninstalled and reinstalled?  Or, is there a configuration of some sort that can be used to point it to the new SQL instance?

My questions are for both eConnect for GP 2010 and GP 2013.

Thanks!

John

You would need to point (configure) any econnect applications to point to the new server address (assuming you are not abstracting that behind DNS alias).

Other than that, the database layer is essentially just a load of stored procedures that will follow the database around to where ever it travels.

Re-install (in my experience) would not be required.

    Tim.
