Allocated to what?

I have a problem with a few of my inventory items, they show that the inventory is allocated but when I click on the "Allocated" link is takes me to "Item Allocation Inquiry" screen but there is nothing there, no items, no documents, nothing. How do I find out why this is showing allocated when it shouldn't be and how do I fix it. Shellie Magers

We also see this periodically.  The official way is to run Inventory reconcile Tools->Utilities->Inventory->Reconcile but cannot do this whilst users are active in the system.

A 'live' alternative is to review the IV00102 Item Quantity Master table for the item in question and adjust directly there.  You would need to adjust any site value and the overall value for the ATYALLOC field.

Be aware that if you're using Project Accounting and/or Field Service, allocations to Projects or Service Calls are reflected in the Allocated quantity in Inventory but are not displayed in the Item Allocation Inquiry window.  This is a shortcoming in the integration between those two modules and the inventory module.

I'm  having the same issue with allocations. I have directly corrected the IV00102 table however I keep getting the same issue again. is this a bug? We are not using Project Accounting or Feild Service.

I know this is an old post but wanted to ask something related to this.

I have the same problem, I can't find the allocation. I have ran the SQL script to find all allocations and still can't find it. I have executed Check Links on everything and still can't find it. When I look at table IV00102, I can see the records for that part number with ATYALLC with the incorrect qty. After updating both records, when I run the inventory reconciliation, GP adjusts it back to the wrong qty. Any other place that I should look?

    Thanks

    PD

    Hi PD,

Which modules do you have installed?

    Kind regards,

Scripts to find out allocated quantities:

    www.sanjaykumar.us/.../allocated-quantities

    Scripts Manufacturing allocated or pending:

    www.sanjaykumar.us/.../manufacturing-allocated-pending-issue

    Scripts Inventory allocations to SOP

    www.sanjaykumar.us/.../dynamics-gp-inventory-allocations-sop-orders-script

I have always been able to answer question like "where is it allocated ?" - hope you can too...

    Cheers!

    Hi Leslie

Under GP Dynamics Options Windows, the list is fairly long but we use the basics. SOP, GL, Manufacturing, POP, etc.

Usually I can fix this by running the routing on Sales, Purchasing and Inventory, but this one has me scratching my head.  I ran the scripts Sanyay posted but I still can't find the allocation.

GP says I have 201 allocated but I can only find qty 1 that is valid. Can't find the other 200.

    Hi PD,

I'm not any help when it comes to the Manufacturing module, I'll send a shout out to Richard Whaley. If I can't find the allocated quantities I usually run the reconcile utility and it fixes it.  If it doesn't fix it that way, I've been known to just edit the IV00102 and related tables to bring it back into line. I put on the brakes if the manufacturing module is involved.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

This is, unfortunately, a common problem with manufacturing.  Often, when you allocate a specific quantity of a component but use less, then close the MO, a quantity remains allocated.  I see this most often at sites that have a third party data collection system (bar code scanners) that allocate on the fly.

I have a script that identifies the records in the system that are holding the allocations.  Most of these records can just be deleted using SQL.  One or two (IV00102) are just ignored as you would not want to delete that record.  The specific records are obvious.  Once the script is run and the records deleted (MAKE A BACKUP FIRST) the reconcile will set the 102 value properly.

Shoot me an email to rwhaley@accoladepublications.com and I will send you the script.  It was provided to me by GP support and works great!
