Exporting Security Roles to Excel

I am trying to export the details of my security roles to Excel to avoid having to manually enter all that data by hand. I am hoping to get the same data found within Dynamics (columns and rows and circles filled in according to level of privileges), but in Excel. Whenever I select the role and click the small green Excel button, whether I choose "Dynamics Pivot Table" or "Dynamics Worksheet", I get this error:

So, here I am, contacting the Dynamics Community! Has anyone seen this error before or have an idea of how to solve it, or am I stuck manually entering every feature of every tab on every security role by hand?

What are you looking to accomplish ultimately? You can select a role and under the actions menu there should be an option to Copy Role. You could then modify the copied role as needed.

I agree with Jason, what are you trying to accomplish by exporting out the security roles. If you can let us know then may be we can suggest something that would not require you to export the security roles.

    Thanks,

If i'm reading this correctly, the goal is to export all the circles to excel.  This would allow you to compare security roles and spot differences.  I'd be interested in this too.

If I am getting the situation rightfully, then he wants to export the details of security role privileges ( the Green, yellow Circles) to an excel file. I also want the same thing, can this be done anyhow?

If your objective is documentation, then take a look at Snapshot: www.crmaccelerators.net/.../snapshot-for-dynamics-crm

    Hi,

I am working on a tool to export the security roles to excel sheet. Though its in development stage, the core operation still works. You can give it a try, if thats what you are looking for.

You can include all security roles you are interested into a solution and export that solution, which will give you a Customizations.XML file in a packed ZIP of 3 files, pretty easy to review and you will see all privileges under each Security Role section, which will start with the Security Role GUID and then Security Role Name in quotes and then the body will contain all Privileges at specific levels (User, Org, ...)

I was copy & pasting the whole list of privileges from one role's section to another, in order to match two roles, and then reimporting the zipped up solution of those 3 files.

Hi, when I downloaded your tool from the CodePlex archives, it does not have a .exe that I can use to run the tool. Am I missing something? Or is there a more updated link that I can use? Thank you for your help.

I'm referring to the tool : mscrmrolesheetexporter

MS CRM Security Roles to Excel Export

which i can only find on CodePlex archives now.

Did you ever manage to get a working copy of this?
