GP2013 Printing Issue

Posted on by 1,180

Hi All -

Our client is getting the following error when she finishes a bank transfer:

Unable to get printer context for group CMXFR. Please check default printer.

She is running GP2013 (12.00.1343) on a terminal server. She is connecting through an RDP session.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

James.

    Hi Jonathan -

Will do. Thanks for all of your help. Have a Happy Holidays!

    Cheers,

    James.

P.S. Massachusetts looks like Fargo with all of the snowstorms.

    Hi James,

I cannot speak to that as I don't know that much about Easy Print. We don't really work with it from the Dynamics GP side. You may want to ask a Windows Forum that question.

In all these listed cases, nothing was hitting the print queue. GP, however, would believe the document printed. (when printing a check, it would then prompt whether to continue processing the check in GP instead of throwing an error).

    Cheers,

    James.

    RE: GP2013 Printing Issue

If we remove Easy Print, will the redirected print drivers still work (from the RDP session)? Or do we have to install the local/network print drivers on the TS and point them to the correct IP address?

Also, just as an add-on, the users have bee receiving the following error messages as well:

        - Print Driver Host for 32-Bit Applications has stopped working

        - Error: Unable to start printing

        - Cannot open printer, check printer selection

These are occurring in a random order. Thanks for the quick responses on this.

    - James.

That would be the problem I would bet. I have seen a couple of cases where GP and Easy Print don't play nice. Try removing Easy Print.

The TS is using Easy Print.

Is the TS setup to use Easy Print?

With all users out, and GP close try the following from the user's session.

Make sure you have permissions to edit the dex.ini

1.- Find the Dex.ini file in the server.

2.- Open the Dex.ini file by using Notepad.

3.- Search for any lines that contain an IP address that references a printer like . IP_192.168.44.75HP LaserJet 1505=0;0

4.- For each line ad a REM in front of it, save dex.ini  REM IP_192.168.44.75HP LaserJet 1505=0;0

Re launch GP and try again.
