Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

Copying Security Roles and Security Tasks from one Dynamics Database to another

Posted on by 1,817

I am doing a Test upgrade of Dynamics GP Version 9 to Dynamics GP 2010. The client is going to get into the test data and perform some of the basic tasks to verify that everything looks OK before we perform the "live" upgrade.

I do not convert over the security setting from the previous version. For the users to test in GP on their  logins I am creating the Security Roles and Some Security Tasks for them to function in the software.

Before the live upgrade, I would like to backup the Dynamics database, restore it over another database and copy over the security roles and tasks so I do not have to re-create.

Has anyone performed this step before and is there something that I need to be aware of before copying these tables over to the live production Dynamics Database?

All help will be appreciated.

David
