How to share charts in Dynamics 365

(0) ShareShare

Hi all

I have created a custom dashboard with three custom pipeline charts. One for a total, and two others based on some custom currency fields.

I have shared that dashboard with the members of team.

However when the team log in and go to that dashboard, they see this error:

You do not have enough privileges to access the Microsoft Dynamics 365 object or perform the requested operation

Google suggests that I need to share the graphs as well as the dashboard. However all the instructions tell me to click the Sharing option on the ellipses menu by the graph. I don't see a Share option.

We're on 2020 Wave 2. I have Sales Manager and System Admin roles, amongst others. User Chart and User Dashboard have sharing set at the user level (yellow circle thing).

Ultimately I just want my team to see the dashboard with the graphs.

Ideas?

Olly

    Hi Olly,

    1. We need to check whether there is a personal view in the dashboard, if so, then we must first share the personal view.

The personal views apear under My views of view list.

If you find the personal view, open Advanced Find and select view's entity, then click Saved Views button.

It will list all personal views of the entity, select the view of dashboard and click Share.

Then you can share the personal view to the users who will be shared with the dashboard.

Unfortunately, only user who created a personal chart, view or dashboard (owner) could share access to it. If owner share access to an other user or group with "share" permission - that users or members of a shared group could share it for others. Also owner could reassign dashboard, view or chart to other user and if this user has a administrative permission - he/she can turn it to system one that should be shared anymore personally but could be managed by users with "System administrator" or "System customizer" roles.

Internet contains a lot of instructions for sharing dashboards, views and charts but some of them are deprecated, because have instructions to adjusting sharing of old UI. That's why here I just put only links to sharing pieces of complete image as links to:

    A. Share the dashboard - Sharing a Dynamics 365 Dashboard - Carl de Souza

    B. Share the using views - How to Share a Personal View in Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM - Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community

    C. Share the personal charts (Ui by August of 2022):

    1. Open an appropriate view of entity and push the "Show Chart" button if chart doesn't show:

    2. Select a chart and in the selected chart context push the “three dots” button

    3. From the context menu select the “Share” point:

    4. Use sharing dialog the same way as for sharing views.
