Why is pick allowed when past expiration date

Hi, Does anyone know why Business Central is designed to allow the picking of an expired lot? It does get blocked when trying to post the warehouse shipment but why would it go so far as to allow the pick and registering of the pick. This creates a lot of extra labor by allowing the physical picking to occur only to get blocked later and then having to move out what was picked for nothing, and having to re-pick another lot. Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

On the Location Card, do you have the Pick According to FEFO flagged?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Yes that option is set but that was not the question. The logic seems flawed. If posting the warehouse shipment is blocked because of an expired lot then why would the system allow the pick to proceed in the first place. Not only does BC allow the pick to be created with an expired lot, it allows the pick to be registered. This results in much wasted labor to physically pick and move the goods to the shipping bay. So my question is why would the ERP be designed this way. Thank you.

Hello - On the Item Tracking Code do you have the option set for Strict Expiration Posting enabled?

    Strict Expiration Posting

Specifies that an expiration date assigned to the item tracking number as it entered inventory must be respected when it exits inventory.
