Named Printers not saving

We have some printers set up and I want to change it so it prints 2 copies by default.  Normally you go into the system choose the printer and then set it to print two copies then save.  The problem is it won't save.  No matter what you do it goes back to only one copy.  We had it working on a machine but we then replaced it with a new machine that is running Windows 7 (old machine was XP).  The user has local admin rights and I can set the defualt to print two copies in windows but not in GP.  It has the latest printer driver installed and prints fine just not the two copies.  Any Ideas?

When this has happened to me it was always related to permissions to change the Dex.ini file. Can you edit the .ini file and save it directly into the Data folder?

I have had issues with Windows Vista and Windows 7 printer drivers ignoring the number of copies setting and always printing one copy.... even from Office applications.

Does the setting show 2 copies if you go back to Printer settings?  Just wondering if the issue is the setting saving or the setting being ignored.

No it does not save at all.  You can set it to two copies and click OK but when you go back into it only 1 is there again.  Talking with Microsoft they know this is an issue but don't know when they will have it fixed.

    Was it working before?

Number of copies might not be one of the settings stored.

Does it work if you manually change the setting via File >> Print Setup?

    Hi David!

It its working in  Windows XP stations without any problems.

In Windows 7 the number of copies is not beeng saved.

If you change it manualy via Windows Print Setup, the named printer wont bring the number of copies on the Print Setup, it defaults to 1 copy.

Same issue happening with my Win7 workstations also.  I can get it to work on XP but not Win7.  The WinXP fix is to just fiddle with the printer settings until they stick.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this issue?

Upgrading to GP2010 latest service pack fixed it for me.  Microsoft support informed me that GP10 was not going to be fixed as support was ending for GP10 in 2012.
