look for relationship type : referential and add the mapping there.

    Hi Mohamed,

I tried mapping an additional field from Opportunity to Opportunity Line (opportunityproduct) and the mapping only works if I add from Related records navigation but does not work on the OOB sub-grid under Product Line Items.

    I tested in 8.2.2.1458 version.

The OOB sub-grid is not like a normal sub-grid and has a bunch of CRM system code running behind it. (Remember that this grid was editable even before we had editable grids.)

Worth checking with MS as it seems like an oversight.

    Hi Mohamed,

As Rawish told, we may add field mappings between 2 Entities by going to the corresponding relationship and then Mappings.

In our case the relationship is between Opportunity and Opportunity Product (Opportunity Line in latest releases) entities if you go to 1:N relationships of Opportunity Entity and search for Related Entity as Opportunity Product.

These mappings only work in context of the related entity (like creating related record from sub-grid or from related records navigation)

So in case of Opportunity Products, it seems to work from related records navigation but not from the OOB Opportunity products sub-grid.

You may open a support ticket with MS to check if this is expected behavior or not.

    Hi Mohamed,

The main record entity must be creating the subgrid record  for the mapping to work. The record will map the lookup data over if created from the parent entity record and fields are mapped in the relationship. Otherwise workflows.

As Carol suggested Workflows will be a good workaround.

    It's odd that normal sub-grids allow/enforce new+old field mappings.

But the Product Line Items sub-grid does not do it for any new mappings.
