Recently installed Dynamics SL SP3 client on new Win 7 workstations with Office 2007.  Unable to export reports to Excel or PDF.  Seems to hang, then get "Crystal Helper Executable Not Responding" error, followed by a couple ROI errors.

    Carolyn

We have user on an XP machine with the same issue.

They do not have a full intall of Crystal on their workstation.

Should I make a full install to see if this resolves the issue?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

So glad I found Adam's suggestion above.  Adding the Crpehlpr.exe fixed my issue.  We were trying to print checks from Dynamics through a Crystal Report and we just started receiving a "Crystal Helper Not Responding" error and the checks would not print.  I added this file to the Data Executive Prevention and it solved the problem.  Thanks!

    Adam,

I checked the workstation, the DEP is set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only."

Exporting works fine on the server (Win 2003 R2) and on Win XP workstations, just having issues on the Win 7 workstations.

When I attempt to export on the two Win 7 workstations:

    1.  I get the export options screen, click on "OK"

    2.  System appears to hang, I go into the Task Manager, the report is in a "Not Responding" state.  I end the task, then I get the following three notifications:

"Crystal Helper Executable Not Responding"   I click on Close Program, then get:

System Message 7011, "ROI Get RIPARAM failed for CRPERC.  Error=".  I click on "OK", then get:

System Message 7011. "ROI Get RIPARAM failed for CRPEMSGCNT.  Error=".  I click on "OK", process ends.

I have the Windows Firewall on both workstations turned off for troubleshooting.

    Hi Jeff,

Crystal reports uses separate .dll files for the specific exporting of data.  Here is a link to a .pdf that shows what .dll files crystal uses for various export formats:

    www.sdn.sap.com/.../d0b01060-3a62-2b10-73a1-d03a6c634914

I would also be curious as to what exact errors you get when you try this process.  Have you tried adding CRPEHLPR.exe to the Data Execution Prevention settings:

Set the Data Execution Prevention feature to enable the Crpehlpr.exe file and the Roi.exe file to run. To do this, follow these steps:

    1.  Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

    2.  In Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP, click the Advanced tab. In Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008, click the Advanced system settings link.

    3.  In the Performance section, click Settings.

    4.  On the Data Execution Prevention tab, click Add.

Note The default option is Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

    5.  Browse to the Microsoft Dynamics SL program installation directory or the Microsoft Business Solutions - Solomon program installation directory. If you have an additional drive that is a mapped drive to this installation directory, you must add the file through both paths.

For example, you install Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 to the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\SL\Applications

On the same computer, you map the S drive to the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\SL

When you follow this step, you must add the files by using both of the following paths:• C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\SL\Applications\

    • S:\Applications\

    6.  Locate and then click to select the following file:

    Crpehlpr.exe

    .

    7.  Click Open, click Apply, and then click OK.

    8.  Repeat step 1 through step 7 for the Roi.exe file.

    Carolyn,

Two new OEM Windows 7 workstations.  Having the same issue with MS Dynamics SL 7.0 on both.  Process will hang, I go into Task Manager and see the report "not responding".  I end the task, then "Crystal Helper Executable Not Responding" error appears.

Happens on all reports, standard and custom.

Happens for all users, including Administrator.

I tried printing to a .PDF file, with the same result.  I tried exporting to Excel, Word and Adobe .PDF, all with the same result.

All attempts to export and print were done from the print-preview screen.  Print-preview is funtioning properly.

Crystal Reports (Dynamics) was originally installed on the workstations.  I uninstalled Crystal Reports and attempted to export, same errors appeared.  I uninstalled Dynamics and re-installed Dynamics, same result.  Then re-installed Crystal Reports, same result.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  • Re: Exporting to Excel or PDF not working on Win 7 Workstations

    Hi Jeff,

So this appears to only happen on the new workstation?  Is the version of Windows 7 an OEM version (it came with the machine) or was Windows installed locally?

Does this happen with all reports or just a few reports?  Which reports are causing issues?  Are they customized?

Does this happen for all users on this machine? Even Administrator users?

Can they print to file using a different format? There are different .dll files that handle printing to file for different file types. This would be a good test to help us to see if perhaps there is something wrong with the .dll file that handles the printing to excel file.

Can the user(s) print-preview the report and then print to file from the print-preview screen?  Or are they exporting directly rather than thru print-preview.

Is the full install of Crytal reports on this workstation?

Perhaps a few of the answers to these questions will help narrow down the issue.
