Hi all,
We are setting up an intercompany order flow for a customer that runs a project based business. All orders must be connected to projects. But we are facing issues with the automatically created orders, where the project field is greyed out and non-editable. For instance, we create a PO in the buying company, this order is connected to a project. Then an SO is automatically created in the selling company through the intercompany setup. We need to be able to set a project on that SO since everything must run through project module, but the project field is non-editable.
Any advice on how to proceed are much appreciated.
So, what I think your desired state is:
Company X:
Create PO to purchase from Company Y.
PO is attached to a Project in Company X.
Company Y:
Intercompany SO created for goods on PO to Company X.
SO is attached to a Project in Company X.
Is that accurate? Are you using Project as a Financial Dimension?
I'm not sure what value having the SO associated with the project in Company X might add. Projects are legal entity specific.

That is what I try to acheive, but it does not work. We need to be able to set the project (the actual project, not just the financial dimension) on the intercompany created SO in company Y, but the field is greyed out and empty. They need to set their own project there (since like you say, projects are legal entity specific). It has nothing to do with the project on the PO in company X, but it is still a requirement that all orders in all companies are tied to projects.
So the question is, why is it not possible to assign a project on the intercompany created SO in company Y?
Because the Project is legal entity specific. There is no project to link in Company Y.
But what I need to do is to manually select a project on the SO in company Y (one of company Y:s own projects). This can be done if I create a SO manually there, but I cannot do it on the IC created orders. The question is why this field is locked.
Ah, okay - I see where I was disconnected.
The system locks editing of certain fields when orders are created from a related Intercompany order to avoid IC reconciliation issues.
To my knowledge, this is normal and expected system behaviour.

I would avoid using the Project module in the Selling Company. You do not gain any additional Functionality using the Project in the Selling Company.

I am struggling with the same case. It also works the same if we start from SO, the automatically created intercompany PO has greyed out project fields and there is no possibility to connect it with project. If both companies are working on projects the intercompany feature stops making sense.
The only one workaround which came to my mind is to leave intercompany feature and do PO and SO independantly on both sides.
If anybody find sth out I will be very apprecieated.
