Is there a quick way to copy our Modified SOP Blank Invoice Form to the SOP Blank History Invoice Form

We are on Dynamics GP 2018 18.4.1384 (2021)

Our current Modified SOP Blank History Invoice Form is just a copy of the out of the box Report Writer Form, so when we re-print it, it just looks strange.

Is there a quick way to copy our Modified SOP Blank Invoice Form so that the SOP Blank History Invoice Form is the same as the Modified SOP Blank Invoice Form - Except I would put "HISTORIC" in the two headers somewhere.

Looking for a short cut without doing all the work, can we simply deleting the current "Modified SOP Blank History Invoice Form", and then copy the "Modified SOP Blank Invoice Form"?

Yes there is but it has been a long time I have done this. It involves creating a package file of the Modified SOP Blank Invoice Form then opening the package file using NotePad.exe and modifying various headers. I believe it may be as simple as doing a global replace of the word WORK to HIST. After doing this you can insert the text 'HISTORICAL'

David & Richard, Thank You Both

David, the instructions on the Blog was Fantastic!! I don't have a clue what I am doing most of the time, but I cautiously used your instructions, and it seems to have worked perfectly, I put in ** HISTORICAL ** and it prints nice now.

In theory you could by exporting/editing the package and changing the component name. This works fine for copying blank to short to long etc.

you'd also need to substitute any field references from SOP_HDR_WORK to SOP_HDR_HIST etc etc etc which may end up being more work than starting from scratch.

Ian, you are correct, the fields and the tables will be different. I would suggest reviewing David Musgrave's posting above in which he provided a detailed process to make this work. He also explains the pitfalls and traps of making this change.

David's article is by far the most complete. Your chances of success get even higher if no Word templates are involved.
