Re-use journal entry from deleted recurring batch

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I must have accidentally deleted a recurring batch I've been using for awhile.  Is it possible to reuse the same journal entry number that was once used in a (now deleted) recurring batch in another new recurring batch?

Thanks for the help!

    Hi,

I know this is a month old, but are you still struggling with this issue?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

The recurring transaction has used the same JE# every month since Oct 2014, with no variations.

That is what I expected.  In the Recurring transaction - what is the JE that was created?  Is it the same number each time - is there any variation?

    Post what you can.

Bill - I have tried that, but I get an error message saying that the journal entry has already been posted

To finish off what Leslie started - you will need to edit the batch once you create it and change the JE number that the system generates to the one that you want to use.

But Leslie, I thought a recurring batch still generated a unique value for the JE each time? Am I missing something?

Unfortunately I am not too comfortable working with the data.  And yes it is imperative to use the same JE number.

    Hi,

If you're comfortable, very comfortable, working with the data at the SQL level, you can do it. I do not know of a way to do it through the user interface. Is it critical that the JE number stay the same?

    Kind regards,

    leslie
