Number of Companies for Consolidation and Intercompany

Hi:
 
If you're going to test and show Consolidation and Intercompany processes in Business Central, you need a consolidated company, a subsidiary, and a parent company.
 
Do you need a fourth company in this mix, acting as an additional subsidiary for Intercompany transactions?
 
Or, can you simply conduct the Intercompany transactions between the one subsidiary company and the parent company?
