System message 9898

Posted on by 25

We have Crystal Reports 10 installed with Dynamics SL. One of my users is receiving the following error message whenever she attempts to open Crystal Report designer within SL.

System Message 9898

The application cannot be found C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Crystal Reports 10\CRW32.exe

The path needs to be C:\Program Files (x86).

How do I make this change.

Thanks,

Give the following a try. It worked for me.

Log into SL with an account that has administrative privileges

    1. You will need to determine what group has access

    2. Once you know that, go to Menu Maintenance, select the group

3 Click on the Reporting button

    4. Click on the plus sign next to Crystal Reports for Dynamics SL

    5. Highlight the designer icon.

    6. In the Command line for Application window. Verify that the location is correct.

    7. Click on Save.

    8. Users will have to log out of the system for the change to take affect.

Please let me know if I can provide any assistance.

    Thanks,

    Missy

we have done this.  And we still receive the 9898 for FRX as well as crystal reports.  Is there anywhere else that the path is located that needs changed?  we have verified that the pathes in the solomon.ini file is a true path for the .exe's that it is looking for.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Missy,

To get this to point to the correct location you will need to modify the user-specific solomon.ini file in notepad.

Here is the location of the Solomon.ini file for Windows Vista, Windows 2008, and Windows 7:

    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Dynamics SL\

If you see the incorrect path specified, you can simply update it to include (x86), otherwise you will want to add the following section to the Solomon.ini and save the change:

    [Miscellaneous]

    Crystal Location=C:\Program Files(x86)...\Crystal Decisions\Crystal Reports 10

This should tell SL where to find the crystal .exe file.
