SiteMap Area Icons disappear after applying CRM 2011 Update Rollup 14

After applying Update Rollup 14 to our development environment, the Area Icons disappear from the SiteMap and the font attributes change.

We compared the HTML from production and noticed that the image tags are now missing in development.

The XML for the SiteMap Areas is identical between both environments.  The class ms-crm-ImageStrip_workplace_24x24 is in global.css.aspx and the control_imgs.png is present in /_imgs/imagestrips in both environments.

Has anyone encountered and resolved this issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I subsequently tried applying Update Rollup 16... no help.

    I'm assuming prior to UR 14 your were on something earlier than UR 12?

    The icons being goner and the font change is expected behavior as a result of the changes made to the UI in UR 12 that introduced cross browser compatibility.

    Jason,

    Thank you for the prompt reply.  We had jumped from UR 10 to UR 14 (and now UR 16).  We will resign ourselves to the fact that this is by design.  I don't understand why the Sub-Area icons could stay, but the Area icons had to go.  Anyway, thanks again.
