refund a deduction that originally reduced taxable income

I would like to refund an employee his portion of health benefits and I do not believe I can do this in a normal payroll batch. When originally deducted, it reduced taxable income. He has no other earnings, just this refund. Tax needs to be deducted on this refund. Can anyone help me?
